zbet911 Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konaté insists the job for him and his Reds team-mates is not done yet after beating Paris Saint-Germain 1-0 in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie. zbet911
Despite the overall game being in Paris Saint-Germain’s favor, Alisson Becker made a number of saves to keep the score at bay before substitute Harvey Elliott scored with his first touch to give Liverpool a narrow win and an early advantage.( zbet911 )
However, Konaté knows the team still needs to focus on the second leg at Anfield next week.
“We know that PSG is a great team, maybe one of the best in Europe, and we knew that today they had more possession than us. We knew that and we knew that this game requires attention to detail. In the end we were 1-0 up and I think it was great, but we have to be aware and focused as well when we play [the second leg] at home because we know they have a lot of potential. But first we have to focus on Saturday and then think about the home game,” the French defender said.
“As I said, sometimes in the Champions League it’s like that. We see great teams, sometimes the opposition dominates the game, but at the end we just remember who won. Today we had a little bit of pain but we have to accept it and try our best. We tried until the last second and that’s why we scored and we are very happy.”
Konaté also praised the impressive performance of team-mate Alisson and hoped his performance would translate into other games until the end of their title-chasing campaign.
“Thank you so much Ali for today. He had a great night and I hope we can have Ali like this until the end of the season.”
The French international concluded by highlighting the importance of showing Liverpool the whole team again, despite the team winning their first game.
“Of course, and this is very important, we need everyone until the end of the season. We know some players don’t play much and sometimes it’s difficult, but like today, we need everyone and that’s why we have to say great and thank them. Even though they didn’t play in the last game, they are still focused and when they come in, they just score goals.”
“Darwin (Nunez, who came on as a substitute and assisted Elliott) I was delighted for him because we remember the Aston Villa game, a lot of people criticised him because he missed big chances and today he got over it and because of him (he assisted) we won and Harvey (Elliott) as well. It’s good for us.”
“Of course the job is not done yet, nothing has happened. I think the most important game will be the home game and today we have to do our best.”
