“We are still assessing Gabriel but he doesn’t look too bad,” Arteta said.

“He was much better the next day, so hopefully he’ll be OK. He’s had some tests already,”

“Jerrian is fine. He was very tired. He had a rest for a while and could not continue playing. But there is no new injury. He could not continue playing, so we decided to save him. But he is fine.”

Odegaard has been revealed to be accelerating his recovery and could return to training on the pitch this week, and Arteta has confirmed he is hopeful the skipper will be back before the international break.

“He’s been playing on the grass for two or three weeks now, but there’s still a lot to do,” he added.

“How quickly we can do the final stages of recovery is a question we have to answer when we have players around him and he starts competing with the team. He hasn’t done that yet.”
