Marinabays  Newcastle striker Callum Wilson is set to become a target for four Premier League clubs in the January transfer window, according to The Sun. Marinabays

The Magpies forward has yet to feature this season due to an injury sustained in pre-season, but he is close to returning and a number of clubs are now monitoring the player.

Fulham, Crystal Palace, Brentford and Southampton are all said to be monitoring him, with the Bees believed to be in the best position and seeing Wilson as the ideal replacement for Ivan Toney.

Meanwhile, Fulham are keen to bolster their forward options and have the money to spend.

Wilson is open to change, finding himself second to Alexander Isak.

At 32, it would make sense for Newcastle to let Wilson leave the club, given his ongoing injury problems, with a back problem keeping him out of pre-season and making him unavailable for the start of the new Premier League campaign.

The £46,000-a-week striker has been a standout performer for Newcastle and was hailed as ‘incredible’ by Eddie Howe last year.

But in the 2024-25 season, he has only started nine league games and he is determined to get more playing time.

Wilson’s current contract with Newcastle expires next summer, meaning now is the last chance to secure a fee before he leaves on a free in the summer of 2025.

The forward has scored 48 goals in 108 appearances for Newcastle since joining from Bournemouth in 2020. ( Marinabays  )
