The former 2021 second-round draft pick struggled in his first two years at right tackle before moving to right guard in the 2023 season and improving, earning him a four-year, $74 million contract.
Commie has proven to be an excellent run blocker and a standout in pass protection. He has shown potential to be one of the best guards in the NFL and will play a key role in protecting Jayden Daniels, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2024 rookie quarterback draft who will lead the Commanders in the 2024 season.
“This is a great day for the Washington Commanders. We are excited to reach an agreement to extend Sam Cosmi’s contract. Sam has believed in the vision DQ and I have had for this team since day one,” Commanders general manager Adam Peters said.
‘He is a pillar of our offensive line and we believe Sam’s best days are ahead. Sam is a great leader and teammate and we are excited that he will be a part of our team for many years to come.’
“I would like to thank Sam’s agents Ryan Tollner, Chase Callahan and Richard Buffum for their professionalism and cooperation in getting this deal done. I would also like to thank Brandon Sosna and Rob Rodgers for their tireless work in getting this deal done.”
‘On behalf of the entire Commanders organization, I would like to congratulate Sam, his wife Blair, and their daughter Clara on this special day.’ ( vox888 )
