Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano reports that Van Nistelrooy will return to Manchester United as Ten Hag’s assistant coach, signing a two-year contract alongside fellow Dutch coach Rene Hage. ( superwin636  )

The news was confirmed by Sky Sports reporter Melissa Reddy, who said Van Nistelrooy and Hage were seen at Manchester United’s Carrington training ground on Monday, July 8, the first day of pre-season training.

Reddy added that Van Nistelrooy and Hage will not be part of Monday’s training session as it has not been officially confirmed, as the pair are awaiting visas. If everything goes well, they will join Ten Hag’s training staff immediately.

For Van Nistelrooy, a former Manchester United striker who is very much loved by fans, he has an incredible goal-scoring record of 150 goals in 219 games in all competitions between 5 seasons from 2001-02 to 2005-06. His coaching history began with the PSV Eindhoven U-19 team, Yong PSV (reserve team) and PSV senior team in the 2022-23 season.

While Hage last season coached Go Ahead Eagles to a ninth-place finish in the Eredivisie, he decided to step down last week to work with Ten Hag, having previously worked with him in the youth system at Twente.
