UEFA has confirmed it will take action against individuals involved in false statements made against UEFA president Aleksandr Ceferin regarding the Ballon d’Or, Diario AS reported on Sunday.
Following the announcement of this year’s Ballon d’Or winner Rodrigo Hernandez Rodri, the Spanish national team midfielder of Manchester City, while Vinicius Junior doubtfully missed out on the prize, Real Madrid chose to boycott the award ceremony in Paris amid criticism of the Los Blancos team’s lack of spirit and disrespect for others.
The report also suggests that social media rumors are also circulating, with Ceferin claiming that the decision to award Rodri the Ballon d’Or was justified, with UEFA considering legal action against those who fabricated the false story about the UEFA president.
‘We categorically reject the widespread allegations about UEFA’s views on the Ballon d’Or. Neither UEFA nor the UEFA President have made any statements regarding the results of the competition or the selection of the winners.’
‘The report is completely unfounded and does not reflect reality,’ a UEFA statement said. ( Marinabays )
