“The Pharmacy” Leverkusen returned to using the main players again after resting some key players in the DFB-Pokal, with the offensive line led by Viktor Boniface and Florian Wirtz, while “The White Horse” Stuttgart placed Deniz Undav to hunt for goals.

After 8 minutes into the game, Stuttgart had to make a quick substitution when Jami Leveling got injured and couldn’t continue playing. Fabian Rieder was sent in to replace him.

Four minutes later, Leverkusen almost took the lead through a combination of two wing-backs, Alex Grimaldo passing to Jérémy Frimpong whose shot was saved by Alexander Nubel.

18 minutes Leverkusen almost got another. Grimaldo crossed into the penalty area to the near post. Edmond Tapsoba headed the ball first but it barely went past the goal.

Leverkusen almost took the lead in the first half when Florian Wirtz crossed from a corner and Tapsoba headed the ball but unfortunately it hit the crossbar.

The second half started with Leverkusen still attacking as usual. Victor Boniface broke through and shot into the near post in the 53rd minute, but hit the post hard. 

In the 61st minute, Stuttgart had their first chance to score. Undav got the ball from Chris Führich and the ball bounced, so he decided to lift it over Hradecky, but the ball missed the target.

Leverkusen missed an incredible chance to take the lead in the 73rd minute, Boniface edged past Rooult before going head-to-head with Nübel but his shot was saved by the visiting goalkeeper.

In the remaining time, Leverkusen could not score a winning goal, ending the game with a 0-0 draw against Stuttgart, making the “defending champions” draw in the league for the 4th time in the last 5 matches. ( wintime999 )
