San Francisco 49ers left tackle Trent Williams has ended his holdout after agreeing to a new three-year, $82.66 million deal, with $48 million guaranteed and a $25.69 million signing bonus, NFL Network reports. thaisiambet

Williams signed a six-year, $138.06 million deal with $55.10 million guaranteed in 2021 before the 36-year-old left tackle agreed to a three-year, $82.66 million deal with $48 million guaranteed with the 49ers. That means he’ll have a total of $103 million guaranteed.

Williams’ new deal officially reinstated him from the reserve/non-reporting list, and the 36-year-old left tackle is set to return to practice in preparation for Monday’s season opener against the New York Jets. 

Asked what he wanted to do with his new deal, Williams replied: ‘Safety’, before adding: ‘It’s a very uncertain league, with the status and age. I think safety is important, and that’s all.’ 

The 36-year-old left tackle also insisted he wasn’t trying to avoid training camp but admitted he didn’t think negotiations would take this long either.

‘Obviously, I don’t think it’s going to drag on that long,’ Williams said. ‘But it’s a tough business and it’s a very complicated contract. I wouldn’t call it a dispute, but it’s a restructuring. So it takes time for both sides to feel like it’s a win for both sides.’

‘We talked in the minicamp and knew it could be a bit longer because there were other people at the negotiating table. Obviously there were a lot of pressing needs. I didn’t think it would be this long, but it was.’ ( thaisiambet )
