( thaisiambet ) Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta insists he will not abandon his Premier League campaign to focus solely on the Champions League and is working professionally to delay Liverpool’s title celebrations for as long as possible. thaisiambet
With six matchdays remaining on the table, the Gunners are 13 points behind the leaders. In theory, if Arteta’s side lose to Ipswich (April 20) this week and then Arsenal’s men win over Leicester, then everything is settled.
However, the 42-year-old coach insists he is ready to do his best as a professional and will not let up.
“We have to make sure we beat Ipswich and make sure Liverpool don’t win the league this week,” Arteta said.
“The immediate need now is to win the Premier League – we are still in a better position than the teams competing for a place in the Champions League, but the two draws in the last two games have made a big change.”
“We have to give credit to Newcastle for turning on the engine and the way they play,” he said. “We need to pick up the slack and start winning league games again.”
