The Northern Ireland international missed last weekend’s 5-1 win over Spurs at Anfield but has been recovering from a minor injury this week to train fully and is available as an option.

“He’s training with our group this Friday, so it’s his first start. Let’s see how he does,” Slot said. 

“We expect him to be available, but we are not sure if he will start. But if everything goes well in training today and on Saturday – then of course he will be available.” 

Regarding the line-up, the 46-year-old coach is ready to give chances to substitutes who previously had few opportunities.

“Of course, we try to win every game from now on, that’s the job of the players who wear the Liverpool shirt,” the Dutchman added.

“But we don’t compare points with past champions.”
