However, Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott said he wasn’t too surprised after speaking with Gallup about his decision to retire this offseason.
“He knows how much I love him and support him,” Prescott told Calvin Watkins of the Dallas Morning News.
Gallup spent six seasons with the Cowboys before the 28-year-old wide receiver agreed to a one-year, $3 million deal with the Raiders this offseason, but his abrupt retirement left the Pirates with another challenge to address their depth at the position.
In his six seasons, Gallup played in 86 games, caught 266 passes for 3,744 yards and scored 21 touchdowns.
