Leo has had an up-and-down season at San Siro this season, but he has still managed 10 goals and seven assists in 37 appearances in all competitions, and the Portugal international has a €175m release clause, which Chelsea are clearly unwilling to meet.
However, Milan and Chelsea have agreed on a number of deals in recent years, including the loan move of Joao Felix to San Siro in January.
Leao’s compatriot is set to return to Stamford Bridge at the end of the season and his agent Jorge Mendes is likely to work with Chelsea and Milan to try and secure a deal for Leao.
Mendes is not officially Leao’s agent but remains close to the Milan star’s family, so he is expected to play a key role, especially if the Blues continue negotiations in the coming weeks.
