Billy Price, a former first-round draft pick in the 2018 Cincinnati Bengals offensive lineman, has decided to retire after just five seasons due to the risk of blood clots, NFL Network reported. ( superwin636 )
Price entered the league as the 21st overall pick in the 2018 draft class. He spent the first three years of his career with the Bengals, appearing in 42 games (starting 19) and playing 10 times as a starting center during his rookie season, but started just nine more times over the next two years before being traded to the New York Giants in 2021, where he started 15 games.
Price then moved to the Arizona Cardinals and started 11 games in the 2022 season. He has also spent time with organizations like the Las Vegas Raiders, New Orleans Saints and Dallas Cowboys, including on the Cowboys’ practice squad last year.
“In the blink of an eye, everything can be taken away,” Price, 29, posted on Instagram. “On April 24, I underwent emergency surgery for a pulmonary embolism to remove blood clots that had entered both of my lungs. As a healthy 29-year-old, the thought of having a pulmonary embolism that has yet to be medically explained is terrifying.”
