The ‘Reds’ have been doing well in the league this season, but in the cup competitions they have been eliminated in every competition, starting with the FA Cup, where they were disappointedly defeated by underdogs Plymouth, followed by two consecutive losses, both in the UEFA Champions League round of 16, where they lost to Paris Saint-Germain, and then in the Carabao Cup final, where they lost to Newcastle.
Although the Premier League team is close to winning the championship this season, Owen believes that the team’s chances of winning the cup but failed to win it all have made this season look dull.
“I just think about this season. If you said at the beginning of the season we were going to win the Premier League, I’m sure people would be very happy,” Owen said during a chat with Van Dijk after the 1-0 win at Everton.
“However, it’s really something special to build on. How difficult is it after the disappointing defeat in the cup to refocus on the Premier League and finish the season well?”
Van Dijk replied: “So you’re saying this season isn’t anything special anymore?” Owen replied: “Of course it is, but I think it can produce something very special.”
The Reds captain added: “I think we have to change that mindset a little bit. We are fighting for the biggest trophy of the season. We work hard for it. All 20 teams are working hard to be the best in the Premier League.”
“We have eight games left, we know what’s at stake, we have to go, we have to fight, we have to enjoy the remaining games and then we’ll see. Like I said, it’s still special for me.”

Of course we are in a period where we are still fighting for the biggest things and that’s the reality. There is still a possibility that the season could end with a trophy .” ( superteeded )
