Callis Campbell says returning to the Arizona Cardinals means a lot to him and he still feels the spotlight as he enters his 18th professional season, NFL Network reports. superheng1688
Campbell returned to Arizona after being selected by the Cardinals in the second round of the 2008 draft and spent eight seasons with his first team, before moving on to the Jacksonville Jaguars, Baltimore Ravens, Atlanta Falcons and Miami Dolphins, until the 39-year-old defensive end signed a one-year deal with the Cardinals this offseason.
“It means a lot, you know, it brings back so many memories,” Campbell said of returning to Arizona. “Just walking through the building, it brings back so many memories. This is where I started. This is the team that believed in me and gave me the opportunity to follow my dreams. And now all of us are a few years later and they still believe in me and give me the opportunity to follow my dreams.”
‘I’m the type of person who loves the game so much, I have to wake up and pinch myself. Is this real? You know, I still play football, but I feel like I’m still good at it, I still stand out and I feel like I can really help this team. There’s a lot of talent everywhere and I feel like the value I can bring is going to make a big difference. At least I hope so. So I’m going to go all out and do the best I can.’
Campbell also talked about his 18th professional season. “It feels like 18 (seasons) because, you know, it’s taken a lot of time and effort, but I still feel like I’m outstanding. I feel like I can change games. I can’t make 75 plays a game, you know? The first time I didn’t come off the field except for one or two drives. And now I can give you 35 quality plays. That’s grade-A play. You start to get 40, 50 plays, you know, it’s still good, but you’ve got to be smart.” ( superheng1688 )
