sudpung168 The San Francisco 49ers’ new contract talks with Brock Purdy may not be as smooth as many think.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter estimates the San Francisco 49ers could have trouble reaching a long-term deal with Brock Purdy as the two sides negotiate a new contract. sudpung168
“I think Brock Purdy can make $50 million a year for sure, but the question is can they get a deal done,” Schefter said. “Brock Purdy wants a deal, and the Nanners want a deal, but the problem is he’s slated to make $5.1 million this season, and then he could be tagged after next season for $41 million. He could be tagged the following season for $51 million.”
‘So if you can’t get a deal done for Brock Purdy, and you’re the Miners, and again, this is not what Brock Purdy wants. I imagine he’s playing for $5.1 million this year, $41 million next year, $51 million the year after that.’
‘You’re talking about $97 million over the next three years, which to most people is an incredible amount of money, but not for a quarterback and cash. So they can’t put Brock Purdy where he wants to be. They can pay him whatever they want, but I imagine it’s not as high as most people think.’
The 49ers are currently burdened with a hefty salary cap with linebacker Fred Warner ($29.2 million), tight end George Kittle ($22 million), left tackle Trent Williams ($21.7 million) and defensive end Nick Bosa ($20.5 million).
Before they unlocked Deebo Samuel’s $15.9 million salary cap after completing a trade for the 29-year-old wide receiver in exchange for draft picks from the Washington Commanders.
Meanwhile, 28-year-old running back Christian McCaffrey is set to make $9.4 million in 2025, $11.9 million in 2026 and $27.5 million in 2027. ( sudpung168 )
