Justin Simmons, a 27-year-old Pro Bowl safety, is waiting to re-sign with the Denver Broncos, but only on a ‘franchise tag’ or deal. Only the long term depends on the Mustang team. According to a report from NFL Network on Wednesday.  ( marinabays  )

Simmons plays the 2020 season under a ‘franchise tag’ valued at $11.441 million. The safety performed so well that he was named to the ‘Pro Bowl’ for the first time. The Broncos still have until March 9 if they want to close the ‘franchise tag’ on the young safety. 27 again, even though Simmons hasn’t spoken with new general manager George Peighton of the Mustangs yet. But there is no indication that they will release the veteran safety onto the free agent market.

‘From everything I’ve heard and been a part of in the past, It would have been 5 years ago now. It seemed like Denver wanted me back and I wanted to be there,’ Simmons said. ‘I know everyone knows that at the end of the day it’s a business. It’s just a matter of doing a good job on both sides and that’s just the business aspect of the game.’

The five-year safety has blossomed into a star under head coach Vic Fangio, earning a two-year All-Pro selection in 2019 and a Pro Bowl selection in 2020 with Simmons. Reiterated his desire to remain in Denver only on a short-term deal or long-term deal.

‘I hope I can give you a percentage of the possibility. But it’s difficult because of the new management,’ the 27-year-old safety revealed. ‘All I know is what I said at the beginning. I want to be there I did that show last year when I was tagged. I made that clear during the off-season. from somewhere else and it was clear they wanted me back as well. That’s all I knew at that point.’

If the Broncos choose to wear the ‘franchise tag’ for the second year in a row, Simmons will receive a salary increase of 120 percent from last year’s $11.441 million tag value, but Simmons does not. Worried if he has to move to play with another team as well.

‘That’s exactly what you thought. We talked with my agent. It’s not something I would say I’m overly stressed about. These things will happen if we do what we ultimately have to do,’ Simmonds said.
