Shaw was not in the Euro 2024 squad in good physical condition and did not feature in the team’s first four matches, only coming on as a substitute in the 78th minute of England’s quarter-final win over Switzerland on penalties. 

The former Southampton left-back has not played for Manchester United since February, meaning he only made one appearance in the last game on Saturday.

However, the 28-year-old left-back has spoken about his current physical condition, saying: “The last four months have been really difficult. At first I thought I would come back sooner but I had a few flare-ups.”

“So it was great to get back on the pitch that night and play. Of course I think I’m ready (for 90 minutes) and it’s up to Gareth to decide. I feel fit and ready to go.” 

Shaw was hailed for consoling a Switzerland player in the latest match as England team-mates cheered as they won on penalties. ( vox888 )
