Seattle Seahawks head coach Mike McDonald will be without starting right tackle George Fant for at least four weeks after being placed on injured reserve with a knee issue, ESPN reports.

Fant suffered a knee injury in the first quarter of the season-opening 26-20 win over the Denver Broncos, and the 32-year-old right tackle has been sidelined ever since. Although he returned to three practice sessions this week, the Seahawks decided to place him on injured reserve, ruling him out of at least four games against the Miami Dolphins, Detroit Lions, New York Giants and San Francisco 49ers. He could return for Week 7 against the Atlanta Falcons on Oct. 20 at the earliest. 

For Fant, he has been given the opportunity to fill in for Abi Lucas, who has been out since undergoing off-season knee surgery, before the 32-year-old suffered another injury that left Stone Forsyth as MacDonald’s third option at right tackle. 

“I thought Stone played well,” MacDonald said. “I thought the second half, from Denver to New England, I thought he was doing a lot of good things. He was ready to play.” ( vox888 )
