Sane has been sidelined for Bayern’s pre-season after undergoing surgery on a groin injury in July to address the issue, which he suffered in the second half of last season and Euro 2024, but the 28-year-old has returned to training and could return before the international break in September.

Bayern Munich are set to open their season at Wolfsburg on Sunday, August 25, before hosting Freiburg on Sunday, September 1 before the international break, and Eberl says the Bavarians will reassess whether Sane is ready to return.

“I don’t know if it makes sense to play him before the international break,” Eberl said of Sane’s latest situation after Tuesday’s 4-0 friendly win over Grasshoppers.
