Kansas City Chiefs sophomore linebacker Nick Bolton was thrilled to score a touchdown in Super Bowl 57 before winning his first championship with the Chiefs after beating the Philadelphia Eagles, NFL Network reported Monday. ( sand357 )
Bolton entered the league as a second-round draft pick in the 2021 class. He had a game-high nine tackles and the most important play was a second-quarter fumble recovery before running back for a 36-yard touchdown to tie the game 14-14, a play the 22-year-old linebacker said was a dream play.
‘I actually had a dream about catching the ball, scoring and winning the Super Bowl, maybe like two nights ago,’ Bolton said.
Chiefs defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo spoke highly of Bolton, who has joined veteran defensive tackle Chris Jones to become part of the Chiefs’ defense.
‘I love him,’ Spagnuolo said. ‘I think people should know (him). He’s going to be a good player for a long time.’
Before calling Bolton’s big play no coincidence, he said: ‘Listen, you can’t play a good defense, a solid defense, in any game without a guy under center (like Bolton). He’s our quarterback and (he) does that. He talks to me like a quarterback on the plays he wants to make.’
