New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh insists that a trade request for Hason Reddick amid a contract dispute is not an issue for Gang Green, who is ready to move on ahead of the new season, NFL Network reports. vox888
The Jets sent a conditional 2026 third-round draft pick to trade for Reddick from the Philadelphia Eagles this offseason, but the two sides failed to come to a new deal as hoped, leading the 29-year-old pass rusher to request a trade away from Gang Green. ( vox888 )
“I’m not going to explain it any further than (general manager) Joe (Douglas) did,” Saleh said. “It is what it is. I’m going to focus on the guys who are here.”
Douglas previously confirmed that the Jets had informed Reddick that they would not trade him and that he would be expected to stay with his teammates and face a fine if he did not report.
‘It’s a great opportunity for the players that are here. We like our defense, we like our depth, especially at D-end. Guys like Will McDonald, Jermaine Johnson, Tack McGinley, who run a lot, as well as (Eric) Watts and (Braiden) McGregor and (Michael) Clemons and Jalyn (Holmes). So, we’ve got a lot of good depth at defensive end and they’re taking advantage of the extra opportunity that they’ve been given because of it.’
As Aaron Rodgers, the 40-year-old quarterback, said of Reddick, “We’d love to have him here, but we’re not judging him for trying to do what’s best for him. I think the best thing for him is to be a Jet because it’s going to be a fun journey, but he has to make the decision that’s best for him and his family.”
