It is the second consecutive game the 29-year-old winger will miss a crucial game after being left out of the squad for the opening Premier League defeat to Manchester City.
Defenders Ben Chilwell, Wesley Fofana and Tosin Adarabioyo are also not on UEFA’s List A list for Thursday’s game at Stamford Bridge. ( wintime999 )
Sterling’s agent said ahead of Sunday’s defeat to Manchester City that they wanted clarity over the player’s future at the club.
Chelsea have spent £185m on 11 signings this summer, leaving Italian manager Enzo Maresca with more than 40 first-team players.
Maresca said after the Man City game that he still wants Sterling in the Chelsea team but admitted there is not enough space for all his players to play in games.
If the Blues do qualify, they could include Sterling in their squad for the Conference League group stage.
Sterling has made 81 appearances for Chelsea since joining from Manchester City for £50m in July 2022.
