popslot Mike Tomlin says the Pittsburgh Steelers have no deadline to reach an agreement with 41-year-old quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin has revealed that the Steelers have no timeframe on signing free agent quarterback Aaron Rodgers, 41, according to ESPN. popslot
‘Not as far as I know,’ Tomlin said. ‘I don’t know if we’re going to use the deadline to sign a deal. Of course, as I said, you want things to be resolved, but deadlines don’t usually resolve things.’
The Steelers made another shakeup in their quarterback room this offseason, with Justin Fields signing a two-year deal with the New York Jets and Russell Wilson joining the New York Giants on a one-year deal, while Pittsburgh brought back Mason Rudolph and Skylar Thompson as the other QB on the roster.
Rodgers had previously visited the Steelers’ training facility and got to know the coaching staff, which was a great day, Tomlin said.
‘He reportedly spent a day with us and it was a great day, especially since he and I have known each other for a while, so it was really nice to spend some time together and get to know each other a little bit better. But he’s a free agent, it’s a process.’
‘I want to spend more time getting to know him better and what he values as a player and as a man and what he might be looking for in his next destination.’
Pittsburgh, however, is still exploring all the options that are still out there. “I don’t know if we’re identifying as Plan A, Plan B or Plan C,” Tomlin added. “We’re just looking at the group of people that are available, whether it’s free agents or the draft, and making decisions and gathering information based on that.” ( popslot )
