FIFA has announced the performance-based awards for this summer’s 32-team tournament in the United States.
Europe’s top clubs are expected to take home the biggest pie, with Manchester City and Chelsea, who qualified by winning the 2023 and 2020 Champions League respectively, among those set to scoop the biggest prize money in club football by winning the competition.
Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and PSG are among Europe’s top teams taking part in the competition.
However, while City could still secure a place in the final at the MetLife Stadium on July 13, Guardiola feels their 2024-25 season means their players and staff should not be awarded any additional trophies.
Manchester City have crashed out of the Champions League at the last 16 stage for the first time since 2013 and are currently fifth in the Premier League and under intense pressure to secure a place in Europe next season.
“We don’t deserve this season’s bonus,” Guardiola said.
“Bonus, if you win, I don’t know how much it will be, it’s for the club.”
