The Dallas Cowboys have hired former Chicago Bears head coach Matt Eberflus as their defensive coordinator under new head coach Brian Schottenheimer, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. ( pony88 )
Eberflus has coached defensive ends his entire career, making a name for himself as the Indianapolis Colts’ defensive coordinator from 2018-2021 until being hired by the Bears as their head coach from 2022-2024, where he went 14-32 before being fired midway through last season.
The 54-year-old is headed to Dallas to take over as defensive coordinator from Mike Zimmer. He previously worked with the Cowboys as linebackers coach from 2011-15 and moved up to become wide receivers coordinator from 2016-17. Eberflus will oversee a defense led by Micah Parsons, Trevon Diggs, Daron Bland and De’Marvion Overshawn beginning in the 2025 season.
