Spanish outlet Cadena Ser reported on Friday that the Uruguayan Football Association could give 26-year-old defender Ronald Araujo the green light to leave training camp early to help Barcelona play their postponed game against Osasuna on Thursday, March 27. ( pgzen )
Barcelona’s match against Osasuna was postponed from Saturday, March 8, due to the sudden death of team doctor Carles Minarro Garcia, before La Liga decided to have the game played on Thursday, March 27, despite both clubs’ unsuccessful appeals to have the match postponed.
According to previous reports, both Rafinha and Araujo will not be available for the game, having played against Brazil and Uruguay on Tuesday, March 25, giving them less than 48 hours to rest. This could include Firmin Lopez, Gerard Martin and Pablo Torre, who are playing for Spain U21s, while Osasuna will be without Enzo Boyomo, who is playing against Cameroon on the same day.
However, according to Cadena Ser, Barcelona are likely to have Araujo back for the game against Osasuna with the Uruguayan Football Association likely to release the 26-year-old defender from the national team camp early, meaning Araujo is unlikely to be involved in Tuesday’s trip to Bolivia.
But Brazil will not be doing the same as Uruguay as the Samba team take on Argentina in Buenos Aires on Tuesday, March 25, and Rafinha will play a key role in the match.
