The Blues splashed out £100m to sign the 22-year-old last summer, who suffered a slew of injuries and poor form in his first season. ( thaisiambet )
But this season, under the leadership of Enzo Maresca, the player has started to shine with impressive form, and Obi Mikel praised the performance in the latest game, a 3-0 win at West Ham, and hinted that he could become the team captain in the future.
“He’s been everywhere,” Obi Mikel told The Obi One Podcast. “He didn’t start his career well at Chelsea. There were a lot of mistakes in the first two or three games and people started thinking, ‘Why are we paying so much for this player?’
“We’re seeing the same form he had at Brighton now. He’s a fantastic player. He was everywhere on Saturday. Not only did he break up the game, he tried to link up the game, with the passes and everything.”
“We feel that this is the Moises Caicedo we know and when you watch him play you can see that he has the confidence, ‘Now I play for Chelsea, this is my team’, with his performances and the way he shows himself on the pitch. He has no ego, he is excellent, he is everywhere, it’s like the performance of N’Golo Kante.”
“Credit to Moses and the manager for giving him the confidence and making sure he had faith in him. It paid off. I think this is someone who could step up and be captain at the end of the day.”
