Kareem Hunt, 29, is confident he can prove himself, still make a difference and is ready to shock the world when he returns to the Kansas City Chiefs, NFL Network reports. nuno168
Hunt played for the Chiefs for the first two years of his career, having entered the league as a third-round draft pick in the 2017 class before being released by the Chiefs after a video emerged of him assaulting a woman. He moved to the Cleveland Browns from 2019-2023 until becoming a free agent this past offseason.
The Chiefs then brought Hunt back to the practice squad on Sept. 16 after Isaiah Pacheco was injured and the Chiefs promoted him to the roster a week later, with the 29-year-old eager to prove himself again.
‘Yes, I believe I can still do it,’ Hunt said. ‘I’m excited to help surprise the world and show them I can still do it.’
Hunt is back in familiar territory with a team that has enjoyed immense success without him, winning three Super Bowls in the past five years. While he’s excited to see his old teammates again, he admits it’s been tough watching the team succeed without him, but he’s glad he got a second chance playing on Andy Reid’s team.
When asked about his adaptation, Hunt said he quickly adapted to his familiar surroundings and wanted to prove that he still had the energy to make a difference.
“I would say they know me. I just have to go and be myself,” Hunt said. “I’ve seen a lot of good guys here. They’ve had a lot of good guys since I’ve been here. Seeing Pat grow and mature and become a leader on this team, because my freshman year I played with Alex (Smith) and he was like that. So I feel like just seeing the player he’s become, I’m happy.”
The 29-year-old running back also said of head coach Reid, “He knows the type of person I am. He just tells me to do what you’re doing, relax and focus, and everything will be back to normal.”
When asked about returning to Kansas City, Hunt said, “It’s still hard to imagine. I guess when that day comes, it’ll feel real. It’s been a long time coming. I can’t wait to put on the red jersey again and go out there with these guys and give it my all for them.”
‘I envision going out there and doing what I’m called to do. I’m going to do it at the highest level and help find a way to keep winning here.’ ( nuno168 )
