The 29-year-old striker’s contract with Empoli expired at the end of last season, and despite the player miraculously saving the club from relegation, both parties did not extend his contract, leaving Niang without a club. ( wilson88 )
During the summer transfer window, French clubs were reported to be interested in Niang, but the Senegalese forward is still without a new team.
However, Foot Mercato has revealed that Iranian giants Persepolis have seen an opportunity and have already held talks with Niang’s agent.
It is now up to Niang to decide whether he is interested in Persepolis’ offer or not. The report further states that the Iranian team has made a very good offer to the 29-year-old player and is waiting for the player’s response.
A key factor in Persepolis’ move was the club’s head coach Juan Carlos Garrido’s desire to bring Niang in to help them chase the championship this season.
