mungmee168 Jed York has made it clear the San Francisco 49ers want to work with Brock Purdy long-term on a new deal.
San Francisco 49ers owner Jed York has confirmed his intention to extend Brock Purdy’s contract, locking the 25-year-old quarterback into the franchise for a multi-year deal, NFL Network reports. mungmee168
“I know we want Brock to stay for a long time and we’re going to do everything we can to achieve that,” York said of the long-term deal with Purdy.
The 49ers selected Purdy with the final pick (No. 262 in the seventh round) of the 2022 draft. He emerged as the team’s starting quarterback in the middle of his rookie season and led the team to the NFC Championship Game, where he has been a regular starter ever since.
In his first three seasons, he led the team to two playoff appearances and one Super Bowl appearance, making Purdy eligible for a second contract and a pay rise, and the 49ers were not hesitant to pay the 25-year-old.
‘Brock is a great guy,’ York said. ‘I look forward to working with him for a long time.’
However, York acknowledged that the process is still moving forward, having spoken with Purdy’s representatives since last week and both parties expressing their intention to complete a new deal this offseason, with the 25-year-old quarterback hoping to get it done before the offseason.
“There’s a lot of work before you get to that point,” York said of the redemption that followed last season’s failure. “It obviously starts at the end of the season to get this thing ready and get this thing right and get this thing back on track. There’s nobody I respect and trust more than (general manager) John Lynch and (head coach) Kyle Shanahan to get us back on track.” ( mungmee168 )
