Atlanta Falcons head coach Arthur Smith has revealed he is not wasting time thinking about 2023, as some media outlets estimate, and is ready to build the team for success in the 2022 season, The Athletic reported on Wednesday.  ( mungmee168 )

The Falcons have made a significant change after trading 14-year starting quarterback Matt Ryan to the Indianapolis Colts before signing former first-round draft pick Marcus Mariota and selecting Cincinnati’s Desmond Ridder as a third-round pick. While the media viewed it as a smart strategy, given the Falcons’ potential to select a new quarterback with a high number in the 2023 draft, Atlanta head coach Smith doesn’t think so. 

“It’s a waste of your time and mine if you want to talk about ’23,” Smith told The Athletic’s Jeff Schultz. “It’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard that a team isn’t going to try to win football games. If you don’t, there are consequences. Okay, you’re at the top of the draft. I get it. But now you’re in the middle of an NFL transaction. Trade in the draft. Trade quarterbacks.”
