Burrow spoke on the Pardon My Take podcast and praised the Eagles’ management skills, and the 27-year-old expects the Bengals to copy Philly and achieve similar success.
‘The Eagles are paying everybody,’ Burrow said. ‘It seems that way, no matter what they’re doing.’
The comments reflect Burrow’s attempt to urge the Bengals to spend as much money as possible to retain the current roster, particularly free agents wide receiver Tee Higgins and defensive end Trey Hendrickson, as well as extending Ja’Mar Chase, who is expected to be the league’s highest-paid wide receiver.
The Eagles have a slew of key players, with Jalen Hurts, A.J. Brown, Devontae Smith, Lane Johnson and others on big deals, while Bryce Huff, who signed a three-year, $51 million contract, has been largely unused.
Burrow currently earns an average annual salary of $55 million, the second-highest in the NFL, with a $46.25 million cap hit in 2025, and he has some suggestions for how to handle his contract.
“You can convert some of that money into a signing bonus, which will reduce the salary cap cost,” Burrow said. “You can push some of that money to the end of the contract, which will reduce the salary cap cost, and then when you get to the end of the contract, you can restructure it and convert it into a signing bonus.” ( mungmee168 )
