Napoli released a statement on Friday saying: “David suffered a muscular injury at the end of today’s training session. His condition will be assessed soon.”
Meanwhile, Gazzetta dello Sport initially reported that Neres will not be available for Napoli’s trip to Monza in Serie A on Saturday, April 19.
Neres previously suffered a muscular injury that kept him out of five games between February and March.
The last time he missed the game, coach Antonio Conte changed his formation to 3-5-2, with Giacomo Raspadori playing alongside Romelu Lukaku up front, but it is unclear whether that tactic will be used again for Saturday’s game.
