( moodeng )Chelsea legend Frank Leboeuf has backtracked on his decision to haile Marc Cucurella as the club’s current star, dubbing him “Gugu the Savior”. moodeng
Back in 2022, when Cucurella joined for £62m from Brighton, LeBoeuf said: “Hopefully Reece James and Ben Chilwell will be fit soon because we need them.”
“We don’t want to see Cucurella play. With all due respect to someone I don’t know, this player is not good enough for Chelsea, as simple as that. It’s crazy that the club signed him for £60m. We can see that he is not at this level.”
The Spain full-back has since blossomed into a key figure in the Euro 2024 triumph and, most recently, scored the winner in a 1-0 Premier League win over Leicester City. “I want to talk about someone I spoke too harshly about two years ago,” LeBoeuf said.
“Cucurella, I call him Gugu the Savior! That’s what I call him. He’s become my idol! He’s amazing in defense and offense – Gugu the Savior. I love you, but you all have to work harder. Come on, guys. Let’s go.” ( moodeng )
