German outlets Kicker and Bild reported on Friday that Leverkusen are set to beat Stuttgart out of the competition to sign 19-year-old Hertha Berlin striker Ibrahim Maza this summer.
German-Algerian striker Masa has scored five goals and provided three assists in 29 appearances in Germany’s Bundesliga 2 this season and has caught the attention of a number of Bundesliga sides, with Stuttgart, in particular, keen to sign the 19-year-old.
But now Leverkusen appear to have won the race to sign Masa, with the German giants tempting the young striker with the promise of Champions League football next season.
Masa reportedly has a clause in his contract that allows him to leave for €9.5m, but Hertha Berlin are seeking a fee in the region of €11-15m for the 19-year-old to leave the club. ( moodeng )
