Castro has reportedly caught the eye of Italy manager Luciano Spalletti, who is considering a move for the Argentine forward, who has an Italian passport. However, Argentina have only called up the 20-year-old to their senior squad for the first time, but only in their preliminary squad.

“These decisions are really very personal,” said Di Vaio, a former Italy striker. “When someone has a strong feeling, it’s hard to change their mind.”

“Of course, he would be happy to have interest from our national team, but we will not interfere in personal decisions, although we can give advice. I think it is a difficult decision.”
