Barcelona’s Polish goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has credited his team-mates for their excellent form since he stepped up to replace Iñaki Peña as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper at the start of the new season, Diario Sport reported on Friday.
Barcelona have enjoyed a remarkable start to 2025 under Szczesny, with the Blaugrana suffering their only defeat so far in the Champions League quarter-final second leg, a 1-3 defeat to Borussia Dortmund.
“I think it’s mostly coincidence,” Chesney said. “The support I’ve had has meant that we’ve had very few losses.”
Chesney also credited his team-mates for playing excellent football, scoring goals in droves and showing impressive teamwork to give them a chance to win all three trophies this season.
‘The team is playing very good football, scoring a lot of goals. You have to try not to concede goals, that’s all. I was lucky enough to come in as goalkeeper when the team started winning games.’
The Polish goalkeeper also explained that while he may not have much direct influence on the outcome of the match, he still feels responsible as one of the leaders on the pitch.
