Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport reports that AC Milan have not stopped negotiating a new contract with the representatives of French international defender Theo, who currently appears to be facing internal issues at the club. ( vox888 )
Milan are reportedly keen to sign a new deal with Teo as soon as possible, with his current deal running until June 30, 2026, but the main obstacle is the 26-year-old left-back’s desire to double his salary in the new deal, moving it from €4m a year to €8m a year.
The new figures will see Teo become the club’s highest-paid player, overtaking Rafael Leao, who is on €6m a year plus €1m in bonuses, and new striker Alvaro Morata, who earns around €5m a year.
Negotiations are continuing as Milan hope to see an improvement in Teo’s performances on the pitch after a poor start to the season, which saw them suffer a humiliating defeat to Parma.
Meanwhile, Teo also sparked controversy in the Lazio tie with Leo when the pair, who had just been substituted, refused to join their teammates during a short cooling-off period where coach Paulo Fonseca gave them a brief tactical spar.
