The Warriors are entering a transition period from the era of Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green to a future with former DR Cuminga. First-round pick, Class of 2021, is leading the way for a new era. 

Cuminga has propelled himself to become a key player for the Warriors in the 2023-2024 season, with head coach Steve Kerr, general manager Mike Dunleavy and team owner Joe Lekob share the same view that they want Cuminga to stay with the team for the long term.

Aside from re-signing Thompson, the Warriors are unlikely to make any significant moves on the free agent market. Due to financial constraints of the team This means that any big moves this off-season will have to be made through trades only. But Kuminga’s name will not be included in those business transactions.

‘Not at all,’ Shelburne said when asked if Cuminga would be part of a trade deal. ‘I think he’s quite valuable. It would be complicated because of his contract extension negotiations and how much money they have. But I think they will do everything they can to keep him. I don’t think they even want to talk about him.’

If not Jonathan Cuminga, who could the Warriors offer in exchange? ‘They have quite good assets. They’ve got some good young players besides Cuminga. They’ve got draft picks. They’ve got (Andrew) Wiggins. They’ve got Gary Payton. They’ve got options. lots there They have a lot of options, and then there’s Chris Paul. That contract is very attractive to a lot of teams for a number of reasons.’

The Warriors also have some exciting young players like center Treyce Jackson-Davis. and guards like Brandin Podziemski and Moses Moody, the Saphan Thong team sees these players as similar to Kuminga, who are being built to be the future of the franchise.
