The Sun reports that Maguire, 31, caused the accident while driving his black Land Rover on the afternoon of March 7, doing 68mph in a 60mph restricted zone on the A616 near his home town of Sheffield.

Maguire pleaded not guilty to the charges at the first opportunity, meaning he does not have to appear in court.

His case was heard at Sheffield Magistrates’ Court on Monday and he was ordered to pay a £670 fine, a £268 victim surcharge and £90 legal fees, taking his total costs to £1,208, while Maguire was also given three demerit points on his driving licence.

The England defender was caught speeding just two days before United beat Everton 2-0 at Old Trafford. ( vox888 )
