kuiper999 Jason Licht sees the 2025 draft as closer than in recent years
Tampa Bay Buccaneers general manager Jason Licht believes the 2025 draft has a slightly more even roster compared to past years, according to NFL Network. kuiper999
‘You can’t walk in and say, ‘I’m definitely looking at trades,’ because you don’t know what’s going to come down to you. I think this year it’s going to be … I could be wrong. You’re going to see a little less of them. Maybe you’re going to have to move up and offer enough to make it worth it for you, just because the draft is a little bit more equitable at one point. You might get the same level of player in the second round as you would in the fourth round at some positions. So I think you’re going to see a little less of that. ‘
Licht had success selecting players in the mid- to late-rounds last year. He selected running back Buckey Irving in the fourth round. Licht also selected wide receiver Jalen McMillian and cornerback Tyke Smith in the third round.
Asked if he could trade down a good player in the first round, Licht said: “It could have something to do with that, but I think it’s just this draft. We’ve had a good run, my staff and the coaches have done a great job. The last three years, I think all of those drafts have been top-notch, all of them.”
‘We want to keep trying to do that. It doesn’t always work out that way, but keep trying. I think this draft looks a little bit more even, which I’m excited about. I’m not saying that’s something I don’t like about this draft, it’s something I like about the draft.’ ( kuiper999 )
