Kindee1688 Pete Carroll isn’t quick to talk about Russell Wilson as the Las Vegas Raiders’ quarterback Kindee1688
New Las Vegas Raiders head coach Pete Carroll says it’s too early to tell if Russell Wilson is the NFL’s starting quarterback option, NFL Network reports. ( Kindee1688 )
The Raiders were in need of a new quarterback before being linked to Wilson, with the Pirates hiring former Seattle Seahawks head coach Carroll as their new head coach, and the 73-year-old could be tempted to reunite with Wilson, who will become a free agent in March.
Wilson has previously spoken publicly about his desire to re-sign with the Pittsburgh Steelers, but the 36-year-old quarterback could change his mind after Carroll takes the job in Las Vegas, but the 73-year-old coach said it was too early to think about that.
“It’s early and we’re just trying to figure out the pieces of the puzzle. We haven’t put them together yet, so I can’t tell,” Carroll said. “Free agents aren’t here yet. That’s the first opportunity. Then the draft comes. We’ll have that opportunity. I can’t tell you right now. I can speculate, but that’s all I can say.”
Carroll worked with Wilson in Seattle for 10 seasons, winning a Super Bowl together, but their relationship ended on a sour note, with the latter being traded to the Denver Broncos, although they seem to have cleared the air since then.
‘I can assure you that if you are a true fighter, you will not let the choice slip away from you. So we will consider every option that is possible and we will take it seriously, with intent, and hopefully there will be a sense and a feeling that everyone wants to be a part of this.’
