Cleveland Browns owner Jimmy Haslam has declined to speak with Miles Garrett, who previously requested to meet with him, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reports.

Garrett has requested a meeting with Haslam, but the Browns owner declined to speak with the 29-year-old defensive end, who has requested a trade out of Cleveland, as Haslam wants him to discuss his future with general manager Andrew Barry rather than speak directly with the owner. 

Garrett has been adamant he wants out of Cleveland, regardless of a new deal that would make him the league’s highest-paid defensive player, as the 29-year-old defensive end sees money as less important than the success he wants to pursue in his Super Bowl run and doesn’t think the Browns have a chance of doing so.

However, Barry has been adamant that he has no plans to trade the team’s top player and has refused to discuss any potential trades this offseason, while Haslam has backed the general manager’s approach by avoiding direct discussions with the 29-year-old.
