The away team took the advantage in the 29th minute when Weston McKennie committed handball in the penalty area. When he blocked Berat Djimsiti’s header, the referee pointed to a penalty. Mateo Retegui shot low to his left, but Michele Di Gregorio dove but missed. Atalanta led 1-0.
In the first half injury time, the away team almost scored from a quick counterattack. Ademola Lukeman dragged the ball straight to the front of the goal before shooting, which hit the home team’s defender. The ball changed direction and hit the post. His teammate
followed up to collect the ball on the left side and crossed to the middle. Lukeman shot hard, but Di Gregorio saved it. Incredibly, the first half ended with Juventus trailing Atalanta 0-1.
The half was played less than a minute later. The visitors escaped from the interception in the middle of the field. Ederson passed to the left for Lukman to drive into the penalty area and pressed a tight angle. Di Gregorio saved it. Retegi followed up with a second shot, but it was saved again. Marten de Roon slammed a third shot. Atalanta led 2-0.
The visitors were hot. In the 66th minute, from the game on the left, Davide Zappacosta passed into the penalty area for Sead Kolasinac to run to get the ball at the end line before back-heeling it to Zappacosta who shot a tight angle into the second post. Atalanta led 3-0,
paying cash without holding back. In the 77th minute, the team from Bergamo quickly counterattacked on the left. Lukman drove into the penalty area before cutting inside and shooting with his right foot. The ball deflected off Lloyd Kelly and hit the near post. Atalanta was superior 4-0. The Zebras
should have gotten it back. In the 88th minute, McKennie turned and shot, but it was blocked. The ball was not out of danger, Samuel Bangula passed to Dusan Vlahovic who shot with his left foot, avoiding the hands of Marco Carnesecchi.
