Despite the comparisons, Hoylund insists he is still many miles ahead of Haaland, but hopes he can develop to the same level as the Norwegian.
“I hope one day I can reach his level. But right now I think it’s too early. Erling is the best striker in the world. Or maybe even the best footballer in the world,” Hoylund told TV2.
“I don’t want to be compared to him at all. But I hope one day I can be like him. Who knows? I’m only 20 years old. We’ll have to see how it turns out.”
“Like I said, Erling is a top-class player. He really had some outstanding years! We must stop him when we meet! He’s such a crazy player. I try to learn from him.”
