“I’ve talked to a lot of good people throughout this process,” Ryans said. “It’s very clear that as I’ve talked to people and gone through the process, I’ve found that (new offensive coordinator) Nick (Kailey) is the right fit for us. His energy, his leadership ability, his ability to understand the offense, defense (because he’s been in a lot of schemes), a lot of successful schemes, his understanding of how to tailor the offense to the players that we have, those are the things that I’ve learned about Nick.”
‘I feel very confident that he can lead and get us through this difficult time. We’ve had great success the first two years, and the reason we’ve done that is because I think there’s another level that we can reach. I’ve said before that it’s my job to take this organization to the next level, and I think hiring Nick will help us get there.’
Kaley spent the last two seasons under Sean McVay with the LA Rams as wide receivers coach before becoming the passing game coordinator in 2024, with McVay calling the play and Kaley overseeing the throws, which helped the Rams improve their passing yards by nearly 20 yards per attempt in the playoffs.
The Texans, meanwhile, are looking to improve their throwing game, which was a problem for them last season, including protecting C.J. Stroud, who was sacked 52 times in 17 games. ( hotfuns )
