hotfuns Roseman says Goederts future wont affect draft

hotfuns The Philadelphia Eagles are reportedly set to part ways with 30-year-old winger Dallas Goedert in the near future.

Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman has confirmed that the future of 30-year-old wide receiver Dallas Goedert, who is entering the final year of his contract, will not affect his plans for the draft later this month, NFL Network reports. hotfuns

“We look at this draft separately from the things that are going on,” Roseman said when asked about Goedert’s status and how it will affect the draft. “We have to make good decisions in the draft based on the players that we have in the draft. We can’t just create a position and make it better than it is. We have to have a real process, so it doesn’t really affect us.”

The former second-round pick in the 2018 draft class has played a prominent role in Philly ever since. He is entering the final year of a four-year, $57 million deal with no guarantees and has $11.7 million in salary-cap space. If the 30-year-old is cut or traded before June 1, he will save $9.5 million against the salary-cap space, while if he is traded after June 1, he will save $4.1 million.

Goedert had 42 catches for 496 yards and two touchdowns in 2024 in just 10 games due to hamstring and knee issues, so given those stats, it makes sense for the Eagles to part ways with the 30-year-old wideout.

The Eagles hold the 32nd pick and are unlikely to select top-ranked wide receiver Tyler Warren in this year’s draft, but are likely to take Michigan’s Colston Loveland, as well as Bowling Green’s Harold Fannin Jr., Miami’s Elijah Arroyo and LSU’s Mason Taylor in the mid-rounds.

“Certainly when we talk about what the class looks like, it depends on who’s there when you pick,” Roseman said. “So we’re in a situation where we think this class is a really good class at one position, but when we’re picking, it’s not really clear whether the quality players are worth the pick. So I think that’s how we decide where the class is, no matter what level of players we’re picking at that point in time.”

‘We try to do everything we can at every position in free agency to make sure we’re not in a situation where we have to be necessary. We’re certainly not a perfect team, and there are always areas where we want to improve, and honestly, that’s going to happen even after the draft.’ (  hotfuns )
