Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence has revealed he has not set a return date yet, but he is very optimistic and confident he will be fit in 2025, NFL Network reports. hotfuns
Lawrence is preparing for 2025, a crucial season in his NFL career, under new head coach Liam Coen, who plans to develop him into a complete quarterback. But before that happens, the 25-year-old will first have to meet certain health metrics.
“The number of pitches will probably be a little bit lighter at the beginning and gradually build up until I’m really back to full strength,” Lawrence said of his offseason plans. “I would imagine that and maybe some limited passing, but I don’t think it’s going to be too long. I’m throwing and obviously improving myself, getting farther, throwing more, just trying to be smart and not rushing too much, just trying to work my butt off.”
Lawrence is coming back from surgery on his left shoulder to repair his AC joint, and while it’s not his throwing shoulder, it’s still a key component to his quarterback game. The 25-year-old still has time until training camp begins, and he knows it’ll be important to adapt to Coen’s system, relying on the fundamentals of his consistent footwork to work through development and find open targets.
“There are some things that I’ve learned about my footwork over the years that I feel are a little bit of a weakness,” Lawrence said. “There are some things that we’ve talked about, what those are. We’re identifying what needs to be done, and then the system is built around tempo and committing yourself to progression and playing on time.”
‘So the system helps you come back, helps you get to the checkdown or whatever, and you feel comfortable when you play on time. This system is more structured and based on that than any other system I’ve ever learned.’ ( hotfuns )
