The New York Jets plan to release Devontae Adams if they can’t trade the 32-year-old wide receiver as expected, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. hotfuns

The Jets are waiting for a call to discuss a trade for Adams, but Gang Green plans to let the 32-year-old wide receiver leave if a trade match isn’t met as he looks to unlock his $38.2 million salary cap hit. 

Adams played in just 11 games in the 2024 season after being traded as a conditional third-round draft pick from the Las Vegas Raiders in mid-October. He caught 67 passes for 854 yards and seven touchdowns. 

The Jets hoped the 32-year-old wide receiver would help revive a team that started 2-6, but it never happened as Gang Green won just three times and finished the season 5-12. 

An attempt to strike a trade or release Adams would not be surprising, considering the 32-year-old wide receiver is contracted to earn a base salary of $35.61 million over the next two seasons, with no guaranteed money. ( hotfuns )
